A large number of people live under abject poverty arising from a high rate of unemployment, functional illiteracy, service backlogs and poor access to public facilities. There are also an increasing number of indigent and child-headed households which implies a high dependency on welfare grants. Due to the high level of poverty in our community; Government declared our school as no fee school and put us on National Nutrition Programme that helps our learners with free lunch.

Zithokozise High School is Maths; Science and Commercial subjects specialising school. It start from grade 8 up to grade 12, our school has enrolment of 220 African learners of males and females and 11 educators. It started with four classes built by parents in the land donated by local chief, in 1990 and officially opened on the 03 April 1998 by then honourable Dr. Vincent Zulu MEC of Education and Culture; has grown to 14 classrooms; one administration block, library, computer laboratory and science laboratory buildings.

Our vision is to produce scientific; mathematically & commercial empowered learners for future involvement in science & commercial related careers.

Our Mission to provide high quality education for our learners; by 2025 being rated number one school both academic excellence and infrastructural development  in the lower South Coast Region as well as in the KZN province.

Our main challenges in realisation of the vision are the infrastructure and resources development i.e. computer equipment; library books and laboratory equipment and materials and sport fields. In spite of this; our school has qualified, passionate educators that have managed to produce good results and successful students. One of our past learners is well known poet and actor on national television drama  [Isibaya] Sibusiso “The poet” Mbutho. Others has graduate from Universities working for Municipality and Provincial Government.

We believe that education is equal to possibilities that can turn around the life of our community. By educational empowering our learners with good and quality education will be liberating and uplifting our community resulting in an improvement in quality of their life.
